In this problem the variables are defined as:

F = feed flow rate

D = distillate flow rate

B = bottoms product flow rate

𝑥𝑗 𝑖 = composition (mole fraction or mass fraction) where “i” is the stream designator and “j” is

the component designator, in this problem there are three components.

1. List the parameters that are to be found.
