Public Schools Vs. Home School
When I was in High School, home school was offered to me due to the birth of my son. I attended home school for six weeks, and would not recommend it to any parents at a young age. In home school there are so many easy ways to get distracted. However, each individual learns and receives information differently. It’s solely up to the parents of if this would be a right choice for their child.
In public schooling, the child that attends is greatly benefitted. In fact they are more benefitted then thought by the people of the U.S. First off, at a public school , tutors are free and you can always ask the teacher questions at the moment the information is given. Being homeschooled, a tutor cost money. whether its cheap or expensive , you still have to come out of pocket. And as far as tutoring quality , I believe that a paid tutor would be better for the fact that they’re getting paid to do it. Tutoring at a public school may not be as efficient and productive because of the quantity of students and the demand of it.
Public Schools offer a great environment to students, preparing them for scenarios that have similar scenery. Scenery such as large groups of people all around , small groups, different ethnicities and cultures. For example , a young man wanting to be a communications major would do better if he came from a public or private school versus coming from a history of only being homeschooled. Due to the fact that in the actual working field , the student from the public school is already used to the environment of people surrounding him. Public schooling provides the young man with better people skills , tolerance , and enhances the capability to work in an environment with people. The better people skills come from twelve years of schooling in public schools. Not even knowing it either, that interacting with ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfths graders increases their ability to work with people. If you ask yourself the question at the end of the day , “ would you rather have hire a host who developed their skills around people for twelve years , or have a host who has been around mainly their family with barely any type of communication skills? ” I would pick the first choice.
After graduating high school I had realized that I wouldn’t be as outgoing , or communicative , or successful in my social life. In public schools, students are obligated to get up infront of some classes and present an essay or project or even a speech. Ive had to do various assignments like this, and doing so, my confidence to speak infront of other has increased. Also , I can participate in group activities with no problem, and I can tolerate with those who don’t have the brightest moods. And I honestly don’t know how that would have been done if I continued to be homeschooled. I have a niece you is home schooled at this moment, granted she is very intelligent and learned to read at the age of one; she severly lacks social/people skills. When she is around children her age, she seems confused on how to communicate with the other children. Instead of introducing her self, or just playing she goes into school mode. Example; her and my daughter are a year apart and everytime there are together, she informs my daughter she’s smater than she is. She starts to name all the states, contenents, and even knowing babies grow in the womens uterus, not stomach. I have had six pregnancies, and this is something that never crossed my mind about my uterus. When the two of them have a small fight or misunderstanding she cries and run to any adult present. Most children try to solve the problem within themselves without consulting an adult: if they cannot solve the problem them their parent are asked or told someone is being unfair or mean. My niece social skills are toddler, she clings to adults, seeking there attention and can fit into the conversation that are being discussed with no hesitation. She is not aware of what is appropriate for children and what isn’t. the positive aspect of home school is when your parents are available, you will receive one on one help versus one to thirty racial in a class setting, some students lack the individual help they need when the techer student racial is great. The teacher cannot always stay on a subject to long or cater to just one child. That would potentially hold the entire class up, and the lesson will fall behind. As I stated earlier tutoring is available in public schools and majority of the this is a tool that is free; however, with children being embarrassed or ashamed they may not ask for help. Then one will assume the child is being lazy or just do not care about his or her studies. When all in all this is where the pressures of high school set in and you stay to stay cool. They do not want to be known as the school geek or nerd. There are more pros than cons with being enrolled in public school versus home school. Is this something you would want for your children? This is something that need to be really consided, remember this is your childs future
