Hey everyone!
Working on a virtual team would definitely have some disadvantages. It can have challenges like communication and priorities. I think the problem between Jake and Sangeeta is just that. Jake is working hard and wants to get the project completed, while Sangeeta is taking her time and not doing her part of the job. She is not communicating back with Jake when he tries to which causes big problems. I also think that Sangeeta does not have this job as a top priority. She would rather go to a wedding even though she is already way behind on her project. To conquer these challenges Jake and Sangeeta need to communicate better and get on the same page about wanting to finish the project.
Some challenges with intercultural and cross cultural communications and leadership are that the behaviors and values are different. Jake and Sangeeta are having these problems. The time zone difference is a challenge between the two as well. Jake values his job and has made it his top priority while Sangeeta has different values and it seems like the job is not her top priority since she is interested in going to a week long wedding rather than getting the already late project completed.
In order to get the project completed, Jake and Sangeeta need to make some changes. If they had better communication and were on the same page with their priorities it would make a huge difference. Being on the same time zone would help a lot as well.
