Academic Activity 5%

· This is supposed to be an innovative contribution of the student or groups of students.

· It needs to be related to the topic of the course and addressing the learning outcome of the course.

· The idea of the activity needs to add value to humanity, industry, community, or the discipline itself.

· It may be part of a competition at the AUM level coordinated by the College.

· The section(s) of the same course may have the same theme of the Activity.

· It will be demonstrated as part of a class or AUM event or function.

· It is considered as a “product” of the section.

· Academic Activities will be coordinated through the Academic Activities office of the concerned college/ department.

· Try to avoid only posters are the production of the academic activity.

· The Academic Activity needs to be measured through clear criteria.

· AUM may circulate a timetable for when such activities to be displayed for each section / course.

Activity Title: A data structure solution for a real life problem.

Requirements (AUM will always aim for the academic activities to be self‐sufficient and funded at their initial stage and for the first production, however, for some activities a budget may be approved) :

The students will be asked to develop possible data structure solutions for a real problem, determine appropriate criteria for comparison of the solutions, evaluate the solutions. Selecting a solution for a particular problem will provide them with valuable experience. The students are required to provide a two pages description (including figures) that describe the problem and the solution.

Grades( how the activity will be graded):

· The style of writing in the report.

· How the student gathers, evaluates and analyses relevant information.

· Check if there are appropriate conclusions that are supported by the evidence and analysis of the report.

Impact and output (scientific, community, research, publications, conference participation, industry, or business values): research, industry and business values.

Abstract (for advertising and archiving):

The student will choose a real life problem that needs a data structure solution. In order to successfully do this, students need to have some experience using their analysis and synthesis skills to solve problems involving data structures. They will not only have learned what each data structure is and how to manipulate it, but also when to use each particular data structure.
