An assumption is a statement that is presumed to be true without concrete evidence to support it. There are two forms of consumptions, which are value assumptions and reality assumptions. Value assumptions are believes about how the world should be, and reality assumptions are about how the world is. I am going to pick 4 characters in the movie “Twilight of the gold’s” which are presented below.

After watching the movie named “Twilight of the Gold”. I can realize that this film reflects the problem of sexuality, religion, and science. It is clear that both Judaism and homosexuality play the important roles in this Gold family.

(Suzanne) Value Assumption: Homosexuality is bad.

After the genetic analysis, Suzanne realizes that although she has a healthy baby, the baby would be born gay, like her brother. Suzanne’s brother David is a gay, and his genetic influences Suzanne’s unborn child. The movie supports the theory that homosexuality is an inborn trait. Homosexuality is not accepted by this kind of conservative family. Suzanne worries about that her child would be the person who is different treated with disdain and discrimination and be rejected by the society. Under the circumstances, Suzanne must decide whether to abort the baby and hope one more next time. Suzanne will make a difficult choice, because her father and husband want her to have an abortion. Finally, Suzanne chooses to keep this baby, but it leads to the break-up with her husband.

(Rob Stein) Reality assumption: because the homosexuality child can make family break-up.

Rob Stein adopts a tough approach to let Suzanne abort the child. Suzanne tries her best to persuade him and asks him that what would happen if she wants to keep that child. He just replied that he does not know. His blank response represents that he basically does not want the child. From the movie review, I can see that many audiences thought Suzanne’s husband is a real jerk in this movie. Rob Stein just has prejudice about the Gay People. To be more exact, from his behaviors I observed, Suzanne’s husband is not a bad man.
