Project Description: You have been asked to finalize a paper discussing the seven core abilities the faculty has identified as being crucial to student success. This will require you to run a spelling and grammar check on the document, as well as to insert and format clip art, create bulleted and numbered lists, and change the margins. You have also been asked to create a newsletter welcoming students to a new semester. To format the document as a newsletter, you will change column and text formatting, insert text from another file, and create mailing labels.

Instructions: For the purpose of grading the project you are required to perform the following tasks: Step Instructions Points Possible 1 Start Word. Download and open the file named GO_wV1_Grader_CAP.docx. 0 2 Modify the document properties to include newsletter, publication dates as keywords. Close the Document Panel, if necessary. 3 3 Run a spelling and grammar check on the document. Correct the spelling error Historicaly (which should be Historically) and the word choice error Todays (which should be Today's). 4 4 With the insertion point at the beginning of the paragraph that begins Historically, search for a Clip Art image using the keywords higher learning, narrowing the results to include only Illustrations and Photographs. From the search results, insert the illustration of a person dressed in green with columns and hills. For your reference, the image is included with the project starting materials with the file name wV1_learning.jpg. 4 5 Change the height of the image to 1.07 inches and the wrapping style to Square. With the image selected, press DOWN ARROW so the heading Core Abilities is located immediately above the image. 4 6 Select each of the following paragraphs and apply numbering using the 1. 2. 3. style. Increase the indentation of the bulleted list one time. 5 8 Set the margins of the document to Narrow. 3 9 On Page 3, select the paragraphs in the body of the newsletter, beginning with first blank line below Campus News! and ending with the blank line below the paragraph that begins Associated Student. Format the selected paragraphs as two columns. 3 10 Insert a column break to the left of Welcome so that all the text is moved to the right column. 2 11 In the first blank line in the left column, draw a text box that is 4.5" high and 2.75" wide. Change the wrapping style of the text box to In Line with Text. 6 12 Insert the text from downloaded wV1_data.docx file into the text box using the Insert Text from File command. 3 13 Change the shape fill of the text box to Dark Blue, Text 2, Lighter 80%. Apply the Bevel, Divot shape effect to the text box. 4 14 In the blank paragraph immediately below the text box in the left column, insert a Step Down Process SmartArt graphic. Enter the following text and delete the unused bullets. Enter the following text: Row 2, Column 1: Date materials are due Row 2, Column 2: Publication Date 3 19 Merge and center the cells in Row 1. Change the font size of the text in this row to 22 pt and apply bold formatting. 5 20 In Row 2, change the font color of text to Dark Red. Bold and center the text. 4 21 Select the last two rows in the table. Change the spacing before and the spacing after to 3 pt. 4 22 Apply the text effect Gradient Fill - Blue, Accent 1, Outline - White to the title text, Campus News! and the paragraph mark that follows it. 3 23 With the title, Campus News!, still selected, insert a bottom border with a thick top and thin bottom style (the ninth style in the list), Dark Blue, Text 2 color, and 6 pt width. 5 24 With the title still selected, change the line spacing to single. 3 25 Press CTRL+END and insert a manual page break. Save, but do not close, the GO_wV1_Grader_CAP.docx document. 2 26 Open a new blank Word document. In the new blank Word document, start the Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard. Set the document type to labels and then proceed to step 2. Select Avery US Letter labels, product number 5160. Accept the settings and then proceed to step 3 of the wizard. Select the downloaded file wV1_addresses.docx as the recipients list. Accept the settings and proceed to step 4. Insert an address block using the default settings at the insertion point. Update all the records to match the first record, and then proceed to step 5. After previewing the labels, proceed to step 6. Merge all the records into a new document. From the merged labels document, select and copy the entire table containing the mailing labels. Return to the GO_wV1_Grader_CAP.docx file. With the insertion point at the top of Page 4, paste the copied mailing labels. 6 27 Save the GO_wV1_Grader_CAP.docx file. Close the document and then exit Word. Submit the file as directed. 0 Total Points 100
