Answer the following questions in some detail after carefully reading your classmate’s paper.
1. What is the topic of the research reaction paper? Answer as specifically as possible.
2. How does the introduction get your attention and make you want to read on? Or, if it doesn’t do that, why does it not do that? / How is it not interesting? /and what should be changed/added/deleted from the introduction to improve it?
3. Copy the thesis statement. Give it a rating between 1 and 10. Explain your rating.
4. How many main points are included in the body section of the paper? Briefly list them.
5. Explain the writer’s interaction with his/her main points and research; in other words, does he/she agree, disagree, or some of both with the information from the sources? Explain your answer, with details and specifics.
6. How many sources are used in the paper? Is it enough? Is it too much? Explain your answer.
7. Consider the conclusion. Is its length appropriate to the paper? How does it sum up the ideas without simply restating them? Does it leave the reader with a feeling of “completeness” or is it a cliffhanger with one or more unanswered questions or issues? Briefly describe your reaction to the methods employed in the conclusion. What’s good? What’s bad, etc.?
8. Check out the Works Cited page and make note of all errors you find. Consider not only content (are all sources used in the paper on the WC page but no others?) as well as the structure and format of the document. Remember, only MLA documentation style is permitted in this class.
