Evaluate Richard De George’s criteria for when it is morally permissible, as opposed to when it is morally required for an engineer to blow the whistle (described in Section 4.4.2). Apply these criteria to a recent controversy where you believe that blowing the whistle would have been morally permissible or perhaps even morally required.

Discuss the issue at hand in a 4 – 5 page paper. Defend your position. What is the alternative view? How can it be supported? Using different philosophical theories that we have discussed in class, support or critique your view and the alternative view. Use at least five footnotes from the text (including Ch 4 in general, Section 4.4 & 4.6 in particular) and elsewhere (the source of the controversy you chose) in your paper. The paper should also include a brief discussion highlighting the role of professional codes acting as guides in whistle-blowing decisions. Also use the appropriate page margins and 12 point Times New Roman font in writing your paper.

Like previous papers, all papers should be first submitted online and the hard copy should include the Turnitin report screenshot.
