What is the desired outcome of your proposal? We would like people to make wiser and healthier food choices as opposed to fast food. We also hope that they would become more informed about the detrimental effects of unhealthy foods. What things about our present society need to be changed to bring about the desired conditions? More fast food restaurants are opening up; therefore, reducing them can be very helpful. More Gyms should also increase in order for people to exercise more often. Since the internet and media are the best way to communicate with people nowadays, advertisements should increase health awareness to warn and alert the public about the consequences of being unhealthy. What steps need to be taken to begin this change? To begin this change in your life there are three main steps. First, fast food should be cut off completely from your diet, as it is extremely unhealthy; however, if you are a fast food addict then one or two fast food meals a week won’t harm. Secondly, exercise daily in order for you to lose the extra weight and fat to get more fit and in shape. Third, see a doctor to check and regulate your health. A nutritionist who can help guide and direct you to have a healthier and beneficial food plan. Similarly, hiring a trainer can be helpful, as he/she can help you get in shape. What organizations exist that are working towards this change? A few of the organizations that are working to help reduce the consumption of fast food and obesity are The Obesity Society, Shape Up America!, and Obesity Action Coalition. These organizations are striving to change the way we think about fast food consumption. Also,The Obesity Society has been committed to encouraging research on the causes and treatment of obesity, and to keeping the medical community and public informed of new advances. What can you do as a small group or individual to contribute to this change? Individuals can contribute simply by spreading the word by telling their family members and friends about this growing issue and how to resolve it. Also as an individual, you can also be cooperative by being healthy to benefit yourself and set an example to others. Moreover,
people can just get together and form small groups to increase awareness. They can work together to put up large poster signs that can alert people and make them notice how unhealthy they are becoming before it becomes too late. Furthermore, those small groups can bring together people who are suffering from obesity and fast food addicts to mentor them and help them get on them get on the right track towards a healthier lifestyle. Also, recommending a decent nutritionist or doctor who can assist these people through this rough period in their life can be very useful. Furthermore, small groups can come together to form a diet group, where they can exercise daily and eat healthier together as they support one another. How will this change benefit society? This change will benefit our society tremendously. As people eat healthier and exercise regularly they will look fit and healthy. This will help them a lot as it will reduce future diseases or even prevent them completely. People will notice in time that their lifestyle is changing for the best. Also, by committing to this change we will see a brighter future for ourselves and for our children. .
