In an ideal society, people are informed about the hazardous consequences of eating fast food. Also, in an ideal society everyone would do whatever it takes to reduce the consumption of fast food within its population. Furthermore, this utopian city’s citizens will be more knowledgeable and informed about the dangers that fast food can pose on a person and their health. Therefore, the people of this society will be able to make more wiser food choices and choose healthier alternatives versus fast food. Character: Complete the following information about your character. Name: Christopher Tucker Age: 57 Gender: Male Profession: Doctor ‘Nutritionist’ Contribution to Society: Helps clients and patients lead healthier lifestyles. He does this by regulating their diets and food choices so that they are able to stay in shape and promote a more fit lifestyles for themselves. Also, he creates food plans for his patients so that they will be able to balance out the nutrients that are most deficient such as (Vitamin C, Vitamin B, etc.). Benefits and Rewards: Benefits financially and earns a great reputation from his clients and patients. He is able to achieve this great reputation because his clients and patients become a lot more healthier due to his own guidance and expertise which helps steer their lives towards a more healthier direction. He is also rewarded by becoming famous from his spotless reputation and richer as he acquires more clients from being better wellknown in the public. Drawbacks: Even though he is capable of helping people lead healthier lifestyles, Christopher Tucker feels that technology and media greatly influences people’s food choices due to its continual and massive growth. Because technology and media are both such a huge influence on what people eat, it may also encourage others to eat more poorly (fast food ads). Also, since there are a lot of different cultures becoming more westernized, fast food chains are able to expand and appear in different countries. There are still a lot of people who are informed about fast food’s consequences yet still continue to gorge themselves with it. It is mainly due to its convenience and the fact that they are so readily available in many places making it hard for people to resist. Story: Write a narrative or interview that illustrates the experience of your character in society. Be sure your story represents your character in relation to the topic you are discussing.
Fast food has been linked with obesity since the dawn of time, with the emergence and
growth of western culture and urbanization,the birth of the fast food world was soon escalating. There are a couple reasons as to how obesity occurs, which can either be due to the biological genes that are passed into a fetus from his or her parents or simply due to when people overly consume or eat unhealthy foods. Obesity is becoming a larger issue everyday within the United States and I myself am a person who has struggled from it.
As a teenager, I could say I was quite fit as a young boy going into his young adult years. As I grew older, I started to consume a lot more of fast food because it was more costly and timely to go eat at a restaurant .I also often did not find time to cook for myself during that period of my life and started to carelessly consume fast food. With time, I started to notice that my body had changed quite a lot. At first, I could not notice it because it had only changed in increments until later I began to see the drastic change in my weight and appearance. By the time I was twenty, I started to eat even more fast food than I had ever before and in no time I was tipping the scale. I couldn’t stop, it was as if there was a parasite inside of me eating everything that I consumed so that my stomach was never full.
I was always hungry and because of this I was constantly eating fast food daily. I ate it none stop. Every time I passed by a fast food restaurant, I had to stop and eat something from there. I had no control over myself and I knew that I have become addicted and sucked into the fast food world. Overtime, I saw that I was becoming unhealthier and not exercising daily did not help my situation at all. I also became extremely lazy and unmotivated to do anything.
After a trip to the doctor’s one day, I decided that I needed to take control of my life before it was too late. Therefore, I decided to sit down and research about obesity, I wanted to take a more proactive approach in bettering my health and food habits. My findings revealed to me that fast food consumption can massively affect a person’s life. Not only did my research reveal how obesity is extremely dangerous, it also opened up my eyes to how many people die at such a young age due to obesity.
From that moment on, I decided to take a stand and changed my whole. I began to exercise daily, ate healthier foods , and sought the help of a doctor to help me manage and control my weight. The first thing my doctor told me was to stay away from fast food completely. A couple of years later after hard work and resisting the urge to give in, I was finally able to reach my ideal weight and become a healthy young man.
Because of this journey towards a better life, I felt inspired and motivated to help others achieve this goal as well. I then decided that I wanted to help people and our society fight against the rising obesity epidemic, and that is why I decided to study medicine with a focus in Nutrition. Today, I am a successful fifty seven year old nutritionist who has changed the lives of many people. I still exercise daily and continue to eat healthy food. I am able to
stay away from anything related to fast food since the day I dieted. This is my secret for staying healthy.
Many patients visit me daily suffering from what I had been through when I was young. First, I tell them about my own story to encourage and inspire them. I let them know that it is not too late to make a change, and with the right kind of selfdetermination and guidance they can achieve results. After, I tell them to remove fast food from their diet and then give them a routine to follow. With time, I began to see the progress in my patients and clients. Since I have helped many people lead healthier lifestyles , I am experienced in the nutrition field of medicine, so therefore many people come to me for advice. Moreover, I benefit from my work financially by earning money from the clients who come to me to get help. I get rewarded firstly and most importantly, when seeing my patients become healthier and happier. Secondly, as I gain credit by changing my patient’s lives I become a lot more wellknown and that also helps bring in a lot of new customers.
Many of my patients are extremely happy now due to my treatments and they have recommended me to others. My unique skills and patients are the reasons to my success. Nothing makes me happier than being involved in people’s life and seeing their lives change for the better.
My only drawback is that I struggle to spread the word on how unhealthy fast food is. With the growth of technology and advertisement, the fast food world is rising at an accelerating speed. Even though I have helped improve many people’s lives there are still many people out there who are becoming sicker and unhealthier due to fast food, but they have not yet noticed. That is why I always tell my patients to spread the word about fast food and how obesity is very common and can definitely take a negative toll on your life and the loved ones around you. Eating should be an enjoyable experience, we want to eat good food, but we have to remember to eat it only in moderation and to stay away from the tempting allure of fast food.
