Louis XIV wanted to move to a different location. Still went back to of course, but wanted to relocate and went to Versailles. Built a palace and it was the biggest in its time. Biggest example in baroque would use this as propaganda. Huge church in saint Peter would use this as propaganda. Built the palace for political and practical purposes, practical because they were afraid of Aristocracy taking over. Invited nobles to “keep an eye on him”. Huge parties and Nobles got addicted. He called himself the “sun king” because he thought everything was revolving around him.
French culture was THE model culture in Europe. Dancing (Ballet), language, food etc.
Russians were very hard to feudalize. French tried to feudalize them by introducing them to Ballet.
The palace was a venue for partying, entertainment, and military/politics. A mix of playboy and pentagon. Lol

How is French different than Italian baroque. Italian baroque is very dramatic “called florin = elaborate” like the Italians themselves. French baroque is more restrained “classic” in regards to painting and architecture and less drama.
Dutch baroque period – Rembrandt. Painted so many paintings. He had chiaroscuro and texture in his paintings. Why texture? Because painting reflects the light and causes facet, which affects the quality of the pictures and last characteristic, is psychology. How the people affects you from the picture.
Painting named Blinding of Samson ^ Samson slept with Delilah (a seductress) and was blinded by the Palestines and had to repent to God.

Much of Holland was ruled by Spain. Late 1600 it was too expensive for Spain to rule Holland. Netherlands the most modern society in the world. Society was built on business (Capitalist) The most dominant form of Aristocracy was built on land. Nether means lower, lands mean land. The lands around Holland would be covered by the sea and would built berm to keep the water out as well. What rule Holland would be cooperations (bodies of people who run organization) These people would get money together and invest in a boat that would travel globally and invest business elsewhere! Like India, South Africa and most importantly Indonesia. (Bring back exotic things like Silk, jewels etc). In china you would lose your life when revealed how to make silk. Holland had a dominating middle class and many businesses were insured. The duth got the islands of Manhattan from the Indians by giving them a big chest of things they didn’t had like knives, iron etc. New York was called New Amsterdam. Pradsent churches existed but yet the concept still exists: didn’t want paintings and wanted the people to focus on the bible/worship more; however, the dutch in general loved paintings! Paintings consisting of their kids, nature etc. Not some violence.
Dutch were very materialistic. The
