"YOURlecturer" Bio Food Web HW
You hit IHOP for breakfast on the weekend, ordering a spinach and cheese omelet, wheat toast with butter, and orange juice. Draw a food web for this meal, then answer the questions below.
Hints: In order to do this, you will need to know what the main ingredients in your meal were, and what those ingredients eat (if anything). For example, your omelet is made from eggs, which come from chickens, and chickens eat insects as well as chicken feed made from corn. Make sure you draw arrows on your food web! Be aware that organisms – not food items – belong on your food web (i.e. put “cow”, not “cheese”). Also, each organism needs its own space on the food web – do not combine multiple organisms into one box.
Put your food web below – as with the cladogram assignment, you may create your web directly on the document, create it in another program and paste it into this document, or draw it by hand and scan the picture into this document.
Questions:
1. Identify the trophic level(s) of each organism you consumed.
2. What trophic level(s) are you in this food web?
3. What is the ultimate source of energy for this food web?
