Levels of marketing performance

Apple Inc., is it a market driven company or a market driving company?

I think it is a market driving company.  For example, they are in the process of releasing there next product the iWatch.  This would not fall into the responsive market category because there is no real need for it.  Apple is going to attempt to create a need through (need-shaping) marketing.  Some of the features are health/fitness related.  I personally would not buy an iWatch and I think they are going to have a hard time educating the public on the need.  Yes, it could target a need for people who take medications but how big is that market?  Elderly people would fall into that category but that generation at this time are not very tech savvy.  There other feature for tracking calories burn may also not be effective.  Usually people counting calories are people on a diet.  Diets are usually temporary and hard to keep track of all day every day.

I think Apple could use some reponsive marketing.  There have been a lot of glitches with the new iOS7 software.  They should focus on researching the current customer to identify their problems.  This will help with keeping there current customers for long term.

Why Marketing Campaigns must have videos

I did not think that it was necerraly important for websites in general to have videos since, content of the website is what usually drew me to the website in the first place. But by reading this quick example and seing a small snipet of general videos it really does get the point accross. Reading what Mark Macias had to say about a restaurant you are choosing the first hting one focuses is the photos and how the experience will be. I found myself doing this many times on my way to search a new place to go out and dine. This was a very good point since I know many people's first question is how is the place? meaning the atmosphere and setting first, then comes the question how the food was. the visual aspect of photos and video is very big in the way one can market ones buisness also themselves with a portfolio. The video in the end showed many examples of how one can attract people to their buisness by showing mutliple aspects of the business instead of just using words. This did make it seem more intriguin then a website with just a menu. Pictures do say a thousand words.

Value Propositions

The value proposition is your initial opportunity to grab the attention of your target audience and sell them on why they should buy/use your product over your competitor’s. According to conversionxl.com a solid value proposition should answer these four questions:

· What product or service is your company selling?

· What is the end-benefit of using it?

· Who is your target customer for this product or service?

· What makes your offering unique and different?

In addition to answering these key questions, a value proposition should be written in the language of the consumer. It should essentially be a continuation of the conversation already going on in their heads as they contemplate their choice of products. Some examples of value propositions currently in the marketplace are:

The Ladders – “Your career is our job. Get matched with the job that’s right for you.”

iTunes – “You’ve never been so easily entertained. Completely redesigned, the new iTunes makes it easier than ever to browse and organize your music, movies, TV shows, and more. Add to your collection and play it all, anywhere.”

Pinterest – “A few (million) of your favorite things.” (In conjunction with their landing page experience)

Skype – “Wherever you are, wherever they are – Skype keeps you together.”
