Using Flow 3D, I need to stimulate certain systems to find out the most efficient use of a simple side weir in an open channel to divert the most water out.

Hi, my project title is to find out the most efficient system (out of 4) in diverting water out of an open channel. You are to use a simple sharp crested side weir, with fixed dimensions on the water channel (provided below). The systems being compared should be, 1. a simple 2. submerged and 3. dual and equal side weirs parallel to each other 4. 2 equal side weirs located on the same side of the channel, all located in the middle of the channel (x-direction).

I have a 6k thesis to write about this topic but 2k will go to introduction, review of theory, abstract etc. So I need to be able to come out with 4k words for the main results portion. You need to stimulate the results and provide a short write-up of the data and provide me with all the necessary results and data to construct the relevant graphs. Price is negotiable. 5 days for just the stimulations.

Dimensions:

fixed

Open channel:

Length (X direction): 21.3m

Breadth (Y Direction): 0.66m

Height (Z Direction): 0.7m

*All these includes a 0.1m buffer (the red area) for the walls of the open channel.

Can be varied if other values make stimulation more cohesive

Inlet volume flow rate: 0.13m^3/s

Mesh size should be about 0.05m and finish time 500s.

Possible Research topics:

· How does the differing downstream water level affect the water level along the side weir and the upstream. (for each individual system) Refer graph A for example.

· How does the differing weir height and downstream water level affect the percentage of flow diversion. (for each individual system) Refer graph B for example.

· How does the differing weir length and downstream water level affect the percentage of flow diversion. (for each individual system) Similar to graph B.

· How does the 4 systems fare against each other? (after exploring different parameters of the 4 systems)

You do not have to find out the definitive most efficient dimensions. But rather, compare about 4 differing parameters ie. compare 4 different downstream water levels to find the trend and use the most efficient of the 4 for each particular system.

Additional data I need from Flow-3d stimulation results to be included.

(not necessarily in the report but I still need these data)

· Graphs that show the results of the different parameters or at least the necessary data that can allow me to construct these graphs. (Graph A and B)

· Velocity magnitude, water depth and froude number contours diagram of each system. (the most efficient ones of each system)

· the autocadd (or whatever design program used) model files used for the stimulations.

· Volume flow rate values of the inlet, outlet and side weir at end time.
