Another week, another customer relations crisis for Target Corp.(BAD NEWS)(gift cards). (2014). Maclean's, (2). 36.

Amid the breach of customer information, the company discovered that many of the gift cards that were sold during the holiday season do not work. This came at a bad time for the company that was already struggling in the public spotlight. This article discusses what Target breaches and what was being done in order to contain the breakdown of information.

This article depicts some trauma within the Smithsonian. Described here, the American History museum is being seen as run down and shabby. It is the most visited history museum in the United States, with over 4 million visitors annually, and yet the building seems to be tired looking, not the great entrance it used to be for our wonderful country’s artifacts and history.

Guide Star provides financial Information about the Smithsonian Institution from 2012 and back. They also provide the contact information and listing addresses for major portions of the Smithsonian. Guide Star provides lots of specific information for many non-profits. They are a reliable source of financial information for non-profit organizations.

This article describes what Target tried to do to win back customers during the peak of the holiday shopping season. The retailer offered 10% off of almost everything in their stores in an effort to retrieve the customers that they had lost. They marketed this to attempt to gain back some of the lost profits that resulted from the data breach that resulted in consumers shying away from the giant retailer. The data breach affected as many as 40 million consumers.

The data breach that occurred in late 2013 within the Target Corporation resulted in extreme profit loss during a crucial fourth quarter. This caused extreme pressures for executives in higher ranks, specifically the security technology divisions. Harris reports that this may be the beginning of several individuals resigning.

This article explains why the CEO of Target is now pushing harder for EMV technology. The company was toying with the idea with more fervor between 2001 and 2004 but decided against the new technology because of costs, consumer learning curves, and acceptance. Now Target is not alone, companies such as American Express and Visa now have rough timelines with implementing this new technology in the near future. Target pushes hard as part of a solution to the data breach problems.

This article describes the warnings that Target received months before the data breach that affected close to 40 million consumers. Weaknesses in the current security were pointed out and Target was told that security measures needed to be made stronger in order to avoid a massive data breach.

This is a great website that allows parents, teachers, and students to gather information about the Smithsonian Institution. The website allows students to gather an overview of what the Smithsonian Institution is and what they do. It is in an easy to use format that allows students of all levels to gain an understanding of the Smithsonian institution.

Included here are the company’s mission statement, values and core beliefs, as well as background information on how the Institution was founded and continues to run today. This website is the cornerstone for all of the Smithsonian’s museums and research complexes across the globe.

This is Target’s website. Here they have outlined the core ideals of the company along with their community involvement, missions and values, as well as locations of prominent stores. Target Corporation is very active within their communities, such as the give 5% program. The site also describes the Target data breach as well as what the company is trying to do to keep their customers safe.
