Prejudice is belittling because prejudiced people don’t see you as a person, they see you as a color, they see you as a stereotype, see you as a character. “Stereotype is a belief or association that links a whole group of people with certain traits or characteristics” (kassin, Fein, Markus, p155). What I feel would hurt the most is that people who are prejudice don’t see you as their equal. The effects of prejudice can be devastating in which effects the attitude and behavior of people.

“Prejudice includes all three components of an attitude (affective, behavioral and affective)” (Mcleod, 2008). Prejudice in the workplace is dangerous, causing unfair treatment of individuals and resentment. Gender discrimination whether at the workplace or at home is another commonly observed prejudice that exists in today’s society. An organization which hires more male candidates and rejects women (happens more than we think) this I would said to be prejudice. Many women are hired equally, but not given the same or top jobs. The attitude of the employee when this happens only hurts the company. Their attitude or behavior will change when acts of prejudice is applied on them, the employee might miss days at work stopping production or not do their job as well as they were will reflect on the company ability to perform and have a bad reputation on how employees are treated at this facility.

I believe this happens all the time. Talking with a lot of males they just don’t like women in the workplace and thing they should be at home. They feel that a woman cannot do as good as or even better than a man why is this? Everybody is equal in every way but prejudice and discrimination happens more than we think how can we prevent this? More is being done in the workplace but it continues today. Also a concern is race discrimination and people of a different culture are not getting advance as other employees of a different race this has to stop. Attitudes are impacted and lives damaged
