The two; University Library and the news aggregators are all sources of information, this is just but one of their similarities. The two can give you any information you are looking for, however, there are some differences on the accessibility and usability (Riley 180).
It is easy to get information from news aggregators as compared to retrieving information from University Library. For instance, it was very quick for me to get information on bullying in schools from Google news as compared to University Library where it took a little longer time to do so.
The process of retrieving information from news aggregators is short and simple, this is because you only need to type the information you are looking for, for example, ‘Google news on bullying in schools’ and within a few second you have the information, from University library, you have to search the information on the topic, look for books talking about the topic and finally search for University Libraries that might have books on the topic at hand, not all University Libraries will contain articles on the information (Chowdhury and Monica 101) . It is therefore evident that information from news aggregators is easily accessible as compared to information from University Library.
Another open truth is that news aggregators are the most frequent used source of information on research made as compared to University Library. In our current world research has been made easier through the news aggregators, this is because of the accessibility of the information and also information from the news aggregators is up to date (Croneis and pat 234). For example, from Yahoo news on bullying in schools, I found very recent news on this topic, for instance one was talking of a twelve year girl who was arrested for bullying a schoolmate, another is about a student who committed suicide as a result of being bullied in school and caused his parents to be sued for the same. From the Cambridge University Library, I just found an article on what bullying is with no recent bullying cases highlighted.
Therefore, most people like me opt to use news aggregators in looking for information. From my pre-search, I obtained most of the information from Google news and only a few from the University Library (Riley 186). It was therefore easier and quick for me to come up with the findings. However it is always advisable to complement the two when looking for information.
