Improvement of cars is the best solution to solve the acid rain problem

Introduction

Acid rain is a term used to refer to a mixture of dry and wet deposits from the Earth atmosphere containing higher amounts of nitric and sulphuric acid. Chemical forerunners of acid rain results from the processes that come out naturally llke;volcano eruptions, decay of organic matter,earthquakes,emission of sulphur oxide and nitrogen oxides from industries and combustion of fuel. Improvement of cars involves improving its engines by fixing the cars with modern super engines, replacing the car exhaust pipes with modern exhaust pipes fitted with catalyst in order to minimize emission of too much exhaust fumes which cause pollution to the environment and lead to formation of acid rain which is dangerous to both Flora and Fauna. Natural sources, which emit sulfur dioxide, are volcanoes, sea spray, rotting vegetation and plankton. Acid rain is destroying the world’s lakes, air and ecosystem. Acid rain affects every single aspect of the ecosystem.   Acid rain is devastating to aquatic life, crops and forests, and human life. People exposed to sulfur dioxide in the air often have reduced lung function.

The growth of forestlands also shows the effects of acid rain. Acidic rain damages trees (Godbold & Huttermann, 14). Many trees show the disease slowly, but when disease and virus attacks they succumb to the disease because of their weak conditions. Young plants with developing root systems are readily damaged by acidic rainfall when pollutants enter the soil and are absorbed by the plants (Paul and Ehrlich, 196). When acid rain occurs, it doesn't immediately affect acidity in lakes and streams. Lakes are greatly affected by contaminated precipitation.   Acid depositions can have a negative effect on our freshwater lakes and stream ecosystems by lowering the pH of the water (Paul and Ehrlich, 103). “Many fish species are unable to survive significant changes in pH, and affected bodies of water could become devoid of any fish” (Paul and Ehrlich, 132). Some twenty thousand lakes have been turned acidic through groundwater contamination by acid rain. A solution to lake acidity is liming.

Thesis

Acid rain has been the termed as the most rising problem to human, environment and aquatic lives this is due to large amount of exhausts from cars and industries which combines with moisture and lead to formation of acid rain which is dangerous. From several research findings conducted there has been close connection between fumes from cars and acid rain formation, we shall in our discussion focus on how we can deal with this particular issues with immediate effect, dealing with acid rain problem will help reduce the loose of aquatic life that die due to acid deposition in seas, Flora will be saved from the leaf scorching effect of acid rain. Our environment is not left behind on the adverse effects of this acid rain, this is noticed when acid rain sips through soil and changes the soil PH which then leads to poor growth of both food crops and vegetation.

Ways of improving cars to solve acid rain problem

Replace factory exhaust fumes; cars are fitted with exhaust fumes of different sizes depending from where it was assembled, when the car is being driven, cars will emit its waste gas through exhausts, this fumes emitted goes to the air and causes air pollution, this fumes contains a lot of gases which include sulphur oxide nitrogen oxide, due to wet moisture available in the atmosphere, the gases mixes with cold air ( that contains water and oxygen) to form acid rain which is harmful to both environment and aquatic life (Jen, 53). Replacing exhaust fumes with modern exhaust pipe fumes fitted with catalyst converters in order to reduce the amount of sulphur released into the air which could mix with the wet components of air and cause severe damages to environment. Laws governing the fitting of cars with modern catalyst converter exhaust pipes need to be put in place to help deal with those car operators who fail to adhere to this particular advices and whoever found violating it to be given a heavy penalty (Jen, 52).

Replacing use of fuel which emit a lot of gases with those that emit less gases; this improvement will ensure that during combustion, the gases emitted has less sulphur oxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide. This will reduce the amount of acid rain formed and hence the problems associated with acid rain are reduced by a larger percentage. Though cars are assembled in such a manner that use different fuels which burn at different rates, Car assembling industries should be educated on the effects of acid rain and thereafter encouraged them to come up with cars that emit gases that contains low amounts of sulphur (Gerald and Diana, 101).

Fitting cars with magnetic fuel savers; This device will help reduce the amount of fuel consumed by cars, when less fuel is consumed, it means that the fuel available for combustion is reduced and hence the amount of gas emitted is limited. This method also works to ensure the fuel that are required to propel the vehicle to move is well burned, this help ensure that carbon dioxide, sulphur oxide, nitrogen oxide is less (Gerald and Diana, 104). With this particular approach the amount of gases emitted to the atmosphere will be less and therefore there will be a small amount of gases to combine with rain to for acid rain, this therefore means that there will be less acid rain problems felt (Gerald and Diana, 102).

Use of hydrogen gas; Petroleum fuel which is used frequently as car fuel could be replaced with hydrogen gas, this is because hydrogen burns easily and is environmentally friendly, this particular has been under research on how hydrogen combustion engines could be fitted to cars to replace the petroleum combustion engines.Though this particular approach is slightly expensive, air pollution will have been minimized and acid rain related cases will be past tense.

Use of BG services; use of vehicle injection apparatus, this technique works to ensure that car engines are clean, when the engine effective combustion of fuel is possible, this will help reduce the amount of exhaust fumes which translates to less amount of acid rain formation. This will eventually mean that the problems associated with acid rain will have been minimized .Most states have adopted use of gasoline fuel as an alternative source of fuel, this is because gasoline will emit less fumes. Use of service and cleaning tools are some improvements to be made, this will ensure that car engines are clean and well ventilated, this will provide a good environment for combustion.Furthermore,use of Air intake and fuel injection system cleaners will work to ensure the engines is well ventilated with air and the fuel injection system is clean, this will work to provide effective combustion of fuel, this strategy will ensure that there is less emission of unwanted gases which is directly proportional to reduced rate of acid rain formation (Gerald and Diana, 153)

In more developed countries with many cars, there is a lot of emission of gases into space, for example in china, acid rain problems are more compared to those in United states This is because in china combustion of fuel from cars is high which leads to formation of acid Rain. The most developed countries has been hosting meeting regularly to determine on how they will face this particular challenge, Research too has been on the lead to now which sectors particularly bring about this acid rain phenomenon and what are the related effects (Sally, 92). We see how the Swedish scientists puts a lot of effort to reach out to more developed countries on the idea of acid rain, the quote direct quote below arising from the summit reports from developed countries gives our work a better position to arque, and I quote “Today as the British and American governments implement pollution strategies, Swedish government is seriously moving out to bring a better understanding of acid rain.”Following the Swedish and Americans researchers they came out and clearly stated that the problems associated with acid rain could be dealt with easily if car functions are improved (James, 45)

Conclusion

Following the above discussions, it is clear that the exhaust fumes from cars contributes a bigger percentage of acid rain, The stated above car improvements measures helps to deal with this particular exhaust fumes problems which will eventually minimize the formation of acid rain, Countries all over the world faces challenges of problems associated with acid rain. The measures taken by each country to deal with acid rain related issue is a greater step to achieving better living standards, this is achieved through less amount effects on human health, aquatic life health, effects acid rain has on trees and soil which are vital for better human life and health. Different states and nations are conducting research all over to really give a better understanding of acid rain and how it can be dealt with, they are also trying to calculate the amount of damaged it emanates from the fumes from vehicles, countries are coming together too to ensure that they put in place measures that will help them deal with acid rain problems once and for all.
