Poverty and its Impact on Education: Today and Tomorrow by Capra (2009) is an enlightening article that discusses the impact that poverty has on education. I consider this article to be valuable because education is a critical aspect of growth and development, with a significant influence in the society. The author provides the reader with a in-depth analysis of the issue by investigating the expected impact future impacts in relation to lack of education. As the author notes, “education is an international must, a veritable human right…” which shows that it is universally accepted that education is a right for everyone in the present times.

One of the points that I consider to be significant is that the author appreciates creativity. The author points out that in most schools, teachers often applaud obedience and repetition. Besides, teachers spend more time on the preparation of standardized test as opposed to developing their students’ creative skills (Capra, 2009). The author clear points out that most poverty-stricken areas lack highly qualified teacher who would encourage the students to strive for quality and seek to advance their education to a higher level. Besides, the author notes that most of the students fail to advance their education to a higher level because no one in their households had gone beyond high school level. Most importantly, the author discusses some of the ways that America should eradicate poverty and encourage students to seek higher education.

This article provides the reader with valuable and highly practical information that helps to reveal the main issues or factors that contribute to poverty and low levels of education in America. This article provides me with critical information that helps me to identify was of ensuring high quality education and reducing poverty. I intend to use this information to influence others into embracing the right ideals that promote high quality education and higher levels of graduation in institutions of higher learning (Capra, 2009).

Moving Beyond “Slaves, sinners, and saviors” is a comprehensive article by Baker & College (2013), which explores the issue of poverty from the perspective of sex in America. In particular, the authors investigate how poverty pushes people into the sex trafficking business because of their vulnerability as they seek to make a living. I consider this article to be comprehensive because the author have provided deep analysis of the issue of sex traffic, from the factors that contribute to that practice, to ways in which the relevant government agencies can combat the issue successfully. I think this article will be helpful in exposing the numerous issues that contribute to the high rates of sex crimes in America, including how the various agencies will fight the problem successfully.

I consider the use of images in this article as highly creative and reasonable because it helps the reader to connect with the issue as well as improve understanding on the various aspects involved. The authors have a provided a detailed discussion of the role that the various government publications, the media, popular films and NGO materials have to say regarding this issue. I think the article is important because it enlightens the reader about various laws relating to the issue such as the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which helps to improve awareness of the issue and how about to go about, especially to ensure that such incidences reduce significantly (Baker & College, 2013). More importantly, this article provides ways in which trafficked people may be empowered as opposed to just being rescued. The article does not also advocate for prosecution of the traffickers but in the creation of effective structural conditions and policies to empower communities to end inequalities that are the main causes of the problem.

I will use this article to understand the underlying causes of poverty, including the factors that lead people to sex trafficking business. In addition, the article will help me to understand the dynamics that make people vulnerable and become victims of sex traffickers. Thus, the article will help me to advocate for change in policies and behavior among people to reduce poverty and the associated vulnerability (Baker & College, 2013).

Poverty and poor health: Can health care reform narrow the rich-poor gap? By Wolfe (2012) provides remarkable evidence that shows how poverty contributes to most health problems among people, with a particular focus on the United States. I consider this article to be relevant because it is current and provides a discussion of some of the recent reforms in health care, including its potential for improving health for the poor communities. The article is also significant because it explores the issue of rich-poor health gap in mortality and in health. Income inequality and poverty in America is quite high and continues to increase. This issue has been the subject of many debates, which makes relevant for the reader to understanding it through this article because the author will provide a professional perspective.

I consider the connection between income and health and mortality to be one of the most important issues discussed in this article because the number of poor people in America is relatively high. The author has also provided valuable statistics relating to children health and poverty, which is critical because statistics show that children from poor families have high mortality rates (Wolfe, 2012). These statistics help to reveal some of the factors that contribute to the health issues that cause high mortality rates. More significantly, the author has discussed the relationship between poverty, health and low levels of productivity. This analysis helps to show how and why the poor remain poor, on of the reasons of which is poor health because it makes them less productive.

This article is quite informative and helps to strengthen my beliefs and attitudes toward striving for better health to ensure high levels of productivity. I will use it to encourage the people around me to strive for better health to ensure productivity and lower chances of mortality and health-related complications (Wolfe, 2012).

Race and Ethnicity in Fragile Families by Hummer & Hamilton (2010) provides an in-depth scrutiny of the issue of poverty in relation to race and ethnicity. The authors discuss the issue of fragile families, which necessitates them to analyze some of the mainstream races and ethnicities in America. This article is quite interesting because it helps to reveal some of the key characteristics associated with the different races and ethnicities in America, including their relative level of stability. Thus, the article shows the races that are likely to maintain marriages and those that are likely to break up easily, including the consequences of such break ups on the different races. This article also provides a discussion of the relative level of socioeconomic resources available for the different races and fragile families, as well as the implications that such issues have on the stability of their families and poverty levels. more significantly, the authors have covered the various social support resources and health resources available, which help to explain the ability for the various races and ethnicities to access them.

One of the most significant issues covered in this article is the comparison of the characteristics associated with the different races and ethnicities. I consider this information to be critical because it helps the reader to understand why the different races and ethnicities behave as they do. One of the authors’ main arguments is that socioeconomic differences play a critical role in creating ethnic and racial differences in family stability and marriage. The authors also support reforms intended to ensure economic security for parents. I think these measures are essential in reducing poverty and improving stability in marriages (Hummer & Hamilton, 2010).

This article provides highly valuable information covering one of the most discussed topics in the America. The issue of race and ethnicity is highly significant so that understanding of the characteristics associated with each helps to understand the differences in each (Hummer & Hamilton, 2010). Through this article, I will be able to understand the differences races and ethnicities in America in a much better way, including the possible causes for the poverty problems associated with each race and ethnicity. I believe that this article will enable me to improve my ability to embrace diversity and appreciation for the different races.
