Brief description of the company
Capital one financial corporation provides different financial options for customers i.e. banking and savings, home loans, credits cards and auto loans. Capital one financial corporation, US based bank now offers its services in the United Kingdom and Canada among other developed countries according to its website (Capitalone.com). Being a member of the fortune 500, the company led the way for the mass promotion of credit cards in the beginning of 1990s. Capital One Financial Corporation is currently the 4th largest client of the US postal services and also happens to be the 6th largest deposit portfolio in US.
Founded in 1988 by Nigel Morris and Richard Fairbank, COF has moved from its first setting, the Signet Banking Corp. based in Virginia to the First Union Corporation in 1997 and the current capital one.
Reasons for selecting the company
Capital One Financial Corporation is one of the leading financial institutions in United States. Its long history and high profile calls for a study on the institution to its SWOT analysis basing on diverse essential sources. Further reasons for choosing COF is that I personally conduct business with them and am considering shifting much of my savings to buy stock in their company.
Capital One Financial Corporation once made an average of 46% in annual growth becoming one of the largest companies to hit such a target. The company also has an excellent information-based strategy making it a first technology company. Such successful reasons actually called for the study of Capital One Financial Corporation.
My role as a stakeholder
My first role as a stakeholder is to provide the capital needed to make the company grow and expand. It is also the work of a stakeholder to take an active position in setting a strategic path for the business. My role as a stakeholder in COF is to sometimes give advice or guidance to the company’s management. Also, taking part in annual meetings and any other meetings where I can raise questions or seek to understand certain things on the venture including the CEO’s decision and board.

The owner of the business is the one building the social capital of the company. With the help of the employees, the owner is responsible for the building of the social organization like facilitating co-operation and coordination.
Employees
Employees are the work force to which without them, business cannot move. Employees provide early warning of products and services to customer’s safety and transparency. Their involvement in security and health matters will enable the management to pick possible measures before they develop to a bigger problem.
The community
These are the people who assist the company in environmental protection. A big parts of every company’s employees involves the people living within the company. The surrounding community takes an important role in developing the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) implementations and commitments.
Conclusion
The gains of undertaking this research is seen in the strategies applied by its management to overcome challenges and gain strength to be one of the leading financial institutions in united states. Studying this company will profit the researcher in that the person gets a flexible business mind to solve issues that may come up in any business setting.
On finishing this research, I hope to gain an extensive knowledge on how to analyze, manage, and protect a business with its huge funds in a competitive business environment. Like the case of COF on leadership, I hope to gain a precept in management for the better leadership skills.
