Cray Inc. offers internship positions targeted at the best and brightest students. The internship allows students to gain real-world work experience in their academic field. Cray interns will partner with some of the most talented and experienced professionals in the high performance computer industry who help our customers solve the most demanding, most crucial computing problems on the planet. As part of the Research and Development organization, this intern software position will focus on the software test business operations for state of the art Cray Supercomputer systems. This internship will run during the winter and spring months ( 6 months in duration) during academic sessions, with the potential to be extended during the summer months as well. This internship will be located in St. Paul.

This specific internship is in the Cray Operating Systems Test group. Projects could include developing work plans, schedules, resource plans, issue logs and status reports.

The successful candidate will be able to:

· Join a thriving, high tech, team environment

· Collaborate with experienced members of the OS software test team

· Create detailed project estimates

· Conduct project tracking and analysis

· Effectively work on and prioritize multiple projects while maintaining high quality deliverables.

The main goal is to communicate with higher-level staff, functional area manager, and project stakeholders regarding status of specific projects. The applicant must maintain quality standards while meeting aggressive schedules

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

· Software development and test methodologies

· Fluent in at least one programming language

· Knowledge of Linux or Unix system software and Microsoft Project

· The ability to quickly come up to speed in large, complex systems

· Good problem solving skills

· Future degree in Computer science, Mathematics, business management systems.

INTERN PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

Typically completed at least junior year of college by the end of the academic year in May 2013. Registered as full-time student before and following the internship. Demonstrated strong academic achievement. Have relevant work or research experience. Proven leadership, communication and teaming skills. SOFTWARE: declared major in Computer science, Computer Engineering, Computer/Management Information Systems, Math or related software discipline. These students could be placed in positions such as application programming, design/code/test/performance analysis and measurement, development programming, operating systems, software testing and systems programming.
