Expectations for PowerPoint Presentation

· Slides should have no more than 5 words a line and 5 lines per slide (5x5 rule) – use short phrases and simple sentences. This rule also applies to introduction and concluding slides.

· Provide only key points on your slides – use your presenter notes (slide notes) for more detailed information. Make sure you limit the information on your slides to essentials.

· Presenter notes are required for every slide in the presentation.

· Your first slide should include your presentation title, your names, and the date.

· Font size should be between 24 to 48 and use easy to read fonts like Ariel, Courier or Times New Roman. Avoid use of ALL CAPS.

· Use the same font style and size throughout your presentation.

· Use design templates that are easy to read and easy on the eyes. Use colors that work well together – avoid use of red. If I cannot read the slides then earned points will be affected.

· Sources should be properly cited and referenced in APA style.

· Put references on the bottom of each slide to support your point and do a References slide(s) at the end of your presentation.

· For a really professional look, use two spaces between all words.

· You should avoid the use of abbreviations and acronyms as much as possible.

· Do not overload your slides with too many graphics or too much text – general rule is no more than 2 graphics per slide.

· Spell-check and proofread your slides and your presenter notes.
