Moton, D., & Dumler, G. (2009). News media. In D. Moton & G. Dumler (Eds.), Navigating America: Information competency and research for the twenty-first century. (pp. 629-635). New York, NY: McGraw-Hill.

This reading covers the basic information about news media. It outlines the many changes that have occurred in news media due to recent technological advances and consumerism. Some examples of these changes are the focus on viewer ratings and the personalized styles of reporting news. It also highlights news with bias and the satirical responses to biased news. Lastly, it discusses the way the public now has instant access to any type of news they are interested in.

This article is good for background information and an overview of the topic in general.

The different changes in reporting news, especially personalized news, would be good support or references when I describe my position on news media in my paper.
