Love and Sacrifice

The Hunger Game movie and novel is presented nowadays Tv reality and has been discussed in a different way. It shows how teenagers deal together and how they fight against one another in order to sacrifice their life and family. Further, it's a kind of a dystopian, adventure and young adult novel and movie type. The main character Katniss Evedden was about 16 years old, but what she has been going through the reaping could let her much older. Throughout the novel and the movie, there was too much pictures of abuse, rebellion and violence that presented by the author Collins or has been shown in the movie from the film maker. Also, it shows how rich people living, wearing and willing to do in order to stay on the top and how the main characters of district 12 do in order to get those rich people as a sponsor during the reaping. However, it shows how poor people are capable and sacrifice in order to reach there. I will be focusing on the issue of love and sacrifice that happed during the novel and the movie. Therefore, although the Hunger Games are a violent novel and movie about an oppressive society, the characters still have a huge capacity for love. Love is an important theme in the book and give many characters a way to overcome their horrible circumstances.

Love was the only reason behind the surviving of Prim from the moment when she was chosen randomly to the reaping at district 12. Katniss Everdeen has faced a horrible moment when she really sow the fear in her sister during the selection to the reaping. However, her love to her sister Prim have made her volunteer as a tribute of district 12 instead of her sister, which protect her from death that no one can easily do in reality. We can see that the strong relationship between Katniss and Prim was full of love and was the only was that let Katniss sacrifice to death in order to protect Prim from the violence, injustice and abuse of the reaping and the people from the capital. During the movie when Katniss was saying goodbye to Prim we can the part where Prim give her sister the mark in gay bird and said" to protect you". This shows how Prim loves Katniss and was trying to protect her was at least by the markandjay to protect Katniss. Moreover, love has presented in other part of the movie for example when Katniss said to her Mother" No matter what you feel you have to be there for her". This was about Prim so that Katniss can go to the reaping knowing that her mother will protect Prim and will be always beside her. From my own perspective, when I was at the age 12 my little sister Maram was almost 9 years old. She was playing with my mom's wring where my mom was not at home, but when she came back home she figured that her gold ring was lost. I was asking my sister where did she lost it but she doesn’t remember, and when I saw her crying and so afraid that mom know about her I decided to blame myself as the one who lost it and I got punished for almost two days locked in my bedroom. Therefore, I kind understand the feeling of Katniss when she volunteers instead of Prim.

Love between Katniss and lover boy Peerta was the main idea that attract, and inspire people in the capital. I believe that without pretending that Katniss and Peeta where lovers they wouldn't get sponsors from million of people in the capital. As it was shown from the movie when the mentor of Katniss and Peeta, and the one who send a gift from the sponsors to them during the war, who is

· Haymitch Abernathy said to Katniss " you really want to know how to stay alive you get people to like you, to get sponsors you have to make people like you". Therefore, we can see from her how both Katniss and Peeta was having their own way to attract sponsors and make them like them, For example, clothes by sina, or by throwing some joke's that make people in the capital laugh. Until the moment when Katniss and Peeta get to pretend as lovers which was the way getting them survive from the deaths at the end of the war. However, we can see how people in the capital love Katniss as the girl on fire and as it was shown from the movie when Katniss where interview in front of people and they start raising their voice which shows how they liked her and loved her. Not only but also, when the one who intervened her said" when you come out, my heart stops". This was shown that everyone in the whole capital admired and love Katniss. However, According to the article According to the article" Killer Katniss and lover boy Peeta", The author Holly Hassal states that" The forced nature of Katniss and Peeta relationship, and a ploy to win sympathy, creates an artificiality of their interaction". Actually, I agree with the author believes and I can add to that their emotions and feeling has inspired me as a reader or as one who watched the movie and they have really convinced me with their romantic story even though katniss was confused about her feelings toward Peeta.

Love can sometimes inflect the negative issues that might happen into positive issue. For instance, According to the Holy Quran" Virtue, righteousness and piety and do not cooperate in sin and aggression and fear Allah, that Allah is severe in punishment". This verse from the holy Quran which shows how it is forbade one to hurt one's life or body. However, this means no one has the right to hurt any other person but love unless he or she does something to deserve punishment and that should be under the law of god and should be in a just way. On the other hand, in The Hunger Game the capital was unjust with teenagers from district and want them to fight against one another in order for only one person to win the reaping. But from the relation of Peeta and Katniss we can see that they both helped each other to win the reaping with their love.

In conclusion, The movie and the novel The Hunger Game have illustrated many pictures of love between characters. However, the novel and the movie were more about abuse, rebel and violence love has the huge capacity by letting characters overcome their circumstances.
