Problem:

Problem:

As of 2013 Brazil has become the 7th largest financial influence in the international economic market. Their economy’s growth rate is exponentially faster than most European countries such as France and The United Kingdom. Their poverty rates drop to lower and lower figures with every passing year; and in contrast their national literacy rate increases parallel with their ever-growing economy. These turn of events are not an unusual occurrence in the world of international business; developing countries are always increasing their economic situations to more favorable conditions.

However, what sets Brazil’s case apart from the rest of the world is the fact that this all occurred in the span of 7 years, which “coincidentally” ran parallel to the country’s development and implementation of ethanol based technologies. Some experts’ state that this is not the cause of Brazil’s rapid economic growth due to the fact that ethanol based products are not as popular or familiar to the general population of consumers who would rather stick to fossil fuel based products. In the world of business this is unheard of. What factors could have had such an impact to alter an entire countries financial status in less than a decade? Why is Brazil the only 3rd world country that is increasing its wealth and power at such a rapid and firm rate?

Hypothesis

Hypothesis #1:

I postulate that the component that could have caused or triggered Brazil’s financial expansion is the country’s venture into ethanol based fuels and technology. The development and implementation of these ethanol innovations began around the same period as Brazil’s economic structure was evolving.

Hypothesis #2:

I propose that the change of the political and government regime first with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and then Dilma Rousseff between 2003 y 2011 could have been then deciding factor that greatly influenced the economic structure and growth of Brazil. These political officials created new and diverse economic reform laws to Brazil.

Hypothesis #3:

I postulate that choosing the ethanol as a new alternative could have been an impact for the Brazilian economy but only on a short term.
