Memo
CC: James Thomas, Mayor, City of Hinesville Date: March 2, 2013 Subject: Request for Approval of Research Proposal
I would like your approval in order for me to conduct a research on the provision of a public transportation system in Hinesville. The problem of not having a public transportation in Hinesville is affecting many people, especially the low-income residents. This memo identifies the problem, the decision maker empowered to make necessary decision, and the solutions necessary to solve the problem.
I am choosing the topic based on my personal experience living in Hinesville as a resident of the city, and having grew up in a bigger city where public transportation system is available. The decision maker that can implement the contemplated changes is Thomas, James, the Mayor of the City of Hinesville. One of the problems associated with the unavailability of a public transportation is traffic congestion. Traffic congestion is more where people do not have access to public transportation. In Hinesville, the traffic congestion is common before and after work hours when people drive to and from workplaces. This is due to individuals driving his or her vehicle to work rather than utilizing the public transportation that is not available. The non-existence of a public transportation brings some environmental problems. These problems include the increase in the carbon dioxide emission, energy dependence, and dirty environment. Furthermore, the unavailability of a public transportation is associated with other problems to include; driving under the influence of alcohol, increase accidents, and increased gas consumption.
It would be very important for me to receive a positive response to my request. The approval would open doors to the provision of a public transportation system in Hinesville. This would help the community in many ways by providing some opportunities. One of the opportunities is the reduction in traffic congestion. When people utilize public transportation rather than their individual vehicle, there would be fewer vehicles on the road thereby reducing traffic congestion. Environmental problems associated with the unavailability of public transportation would be reduced or eliminated. The carbon dioxide emission would be reduced, energy independence, and dirty environment would be reduced or eliminated. Public transportation enhances the provision of a reduced carbon footprint, energy dependence, and clean air.
The advantages associated with the provision of a public transportation in Hinesville would enhance personal opportunities for the residents, reduce fuel consumption, and provide economic opportunities. Another advantages associated with the provision of a public transportation include the development to the city. It would also provide job opportunities and saves money associated with individual vehicle usage thereby increasing the standard of living and reducing the cost of living. The proposed public transportation is scheduled to be started in first week of December. The service would be within the Hinesville city limit and extend to other surrounding cities. The cost associated with the purchase of the busses, hiring of drivers, fuel consumption, bus stops, and other costs. Overall, the initial budget estimate is to cost $1,000,000-$1,500,000 to be operational.
I believe that the approval to conduct the research would not only get rid of all the difficulties the residents face, but it would make life easier and better for all the people in the city and the surrounding cities. It would also bring economic and environmental benefits. Once more, I am asking Professor Edwin Sapp for the approval to pursue this project. Please notify me for any further information about this proposed project approval at 912-123-4567 or through e-mail at [email protected]. Thank you.
