*Aristotle* Writing your own argument
A very helpful video that shows how to format a Word document for an APA paper is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAhHWNcU3vM
Create an APA-formatted cover sheet for the paper (this sample is correct)
Add APA-formatted headers and page numbers (see sample here; you do not need an abstract for papers in this class)
Margins should be one inch on top, bottom, and sides
Text should be a serif font such as Times New Roman
Body text (all paragraphs of the paper) should be double-spaced
Paragraphs should be indented five spaces, and there should be no extra space between paragraphs other than the regular double space
Numbers under 10 should be written out (one, two, three)
Include an in-text parenthetical citation every time you use something in your paper that you got from another source. You can find more information in your ebook; in the videos created for this class, which are in the References tab; and a here and here.
Create a references list with the following elements. Sample lists are here and
Heading should be References—no bold or underline and only the first word capitalized.
List should be double-spaced
Heading should be centered above the list
References should be listed in alphabetical order by author’s last name or first word of article title
Write the author’s last name and first initial. Include middle initial if you know it.
Use a hanging indent for each entry
Do not italicize article titles or put quotation marks around them. Do italicize titles of books and entire journals and magazines.
In article titles, capitalize only the first word, the word immediately following a colon, and proper nouns
