Instructions: Write an essay in which you discuss the following:
1) NOT BEING HEARD Recall a situation (preferably in the workplace) when you felt what you were saying was important but the person(s) to whom you were speaking didn’t seem to be listening to you. What made you think they weren’t listening? How did that make you feel? Describe what happened.
2) HOW YOU CAN BE HEARD AND HAVE PEOPLE HEAR YOU? Considering what we have learned about listening and verbal and non-verbal communication, especially from Chapters 4 and 5 of Simply Said, discuss what you could have done to enhance your communication effort and what your listener should have done to be an engaged listener focusing on the message you were conveying.
