Assignment 1:(Due today5/4 evening)

     Five short answer quiz base on the reading "Between the World and Me".  The questions are mostly based on the discussion questions. You may use your book, your notes, and the discussion question responses to help you. 

Q1: Explain Coates’ view of the “dream” and/or “the dreamers," giving examples to illustrate his views. 

Q2:Why did Coates prefer Malcolm X over Martin Luther King Jr. when he was growing up? Give evidence to support your reasoning. 

Q3: Describe Coates’ neighborhood in detail and discuss how it contributed to his view of the dream.

Q4: Why is the black body more important than God for Coates?

Q5: What does Coates want his son Samori and his readers to know about slavery in the US?

For this week's meditation exercise, we are going to focus on finding inner peace in the middle of a storm--basically when things feel chaotic or out of control around you.  Find a comfortable spot and listen any meditations audio or videos then close your eyes . After the session, post about how it went for you. Post your observations, questions, and experiences?  Are there any changes from when you started meditating a few weeks ago till now?
