The article Making it in America brought a light to how the manufacturing industry is changing fast. Like the factories in the article many of the jobs in these factories have been replaced by automation, computerization, and robotics.
Now with globalization and the offshoring of jobs, is this force for international change evident in the reading? In what ways?
If you were a leader in the leader of an organization with similar issues with those in the article, how would you respond?
An advantage that the U. S. has over other countries is our skilled laborers; to which, the combination of skilled labor and complex machines gives American factories a big advantage in manufacturing not only precision products, but also those that are made in small batches, as is the case with many fuel injectors…is this advantage still evident in the reading?
Are you seeing a sea change in the willingness of manufacturing companies to follow Amazon’s footsteps by offering skill training programs? Shall we focus our polices on skill development?
