World Religion Lesson 2

According to Buddhism, "suffering is caused by the desire to hold onto things" (page 150).  Therefore, the only way to alleviate suffering is to not form an attachment.  This prohibits then the problems of envy, jealousy, anger, hatred, grief, loneliness and frustration.  Is this tenet of Buddhism compatible with the western notion of romantic love?  Use your best writing and be sure to respond to another student's post. You should have a minimum of 100 words for your initial post and a minimum of 100 words for your response to another student.
