Please respond directly to the classmate discussion post below in 100 words minimum.

The topic is about how important Field Training Officers (FTO) are to law enforcement.

The importance of the Field Training Officer and the relationship of the new recruit is extremely important. The Field Training Officer is tasked with training the recruit on numerous of things. For example, an Field Training Officer should be making sure that a recruit is taking what he/she learned in the academy and using it in real life. Teaching the recruit policies and procedures of that agency. The things a recruit do now in there current position will affect what they do as they move up in the rank in file. It will either make the department better and stronger or it will hurt the department in a way that will make the community have no trust in the agency. Field Training Officers are in positions to train and to make sure the recruit will not jeopardize the next 20 or more years of their career. This post is similar to the first weeks post and with that being said, there are Field Training Officers that are in the position just to be liked and not be a leader. Those kind of officers will hurt the recruit, the next 20 plus years of the recruits future and  the overall integrity of the department.
