Assignment 3: Analyzing foreign health disparities and social determinants
Instructions
Background
Health disparities, deeply rooted in structural bias, social inequities, and racism, significantly determine the health outcomes for cultural groups across the globe (Clark, et al., 2019). In this assignment, these disparities and their implications for a chosen cultural group outside the United States are analyzed. Health indicators and descriptive epidemiology provide valuable insights into the health behaviors and disparities of these groups (World Health Organization, 2019). A key part of this analysis involves understanding the challenges to achieving health equity at various levels, from organizational to societal. Health behaviors and outcomes, greatly influenced by entrenched attitudes, beliefs, and values, shape the health landscape of these cultural groups (Marmot, 2018). By focusing on socio-economic, language, political, and religious factors, the complex and interconnected nature of health disparities and these determinants of health is underscored.

Instructions
Choose a cultural group from outside the United States and research their health disparities, behaviors, and beliefs:
· Focusing on your chosen group, explain the structural bias, social inequities, and racism as social determinants of their health.
· Discuss your chosen groups' challenges to achieving health equity at organizational, community and societal levels.
· Utilize health indicators and/or descriptive epidemiology, as applicable in this context.
· The following are expected:
· Identify and describe cultural group from outside the United States in terms of history, geography, and characteristics.
· Identify disparities by comparing descriptive epidemiology of identified cultural group to majority cultural group within that country or region.
· Describe common preventive and protective health behaviors, sick-role behaviors, illness behaviors and societal health behaviors.
· Describe commonly held attitudes, beliefs, and values.
Discuss socio-economic, language, political, religious, social inequities, and racism as social determinants of their health disparity by highlighting challenges to achieving health equity at organizational, community, and societal levels.
Grading
This assignment must be 2 pages (excluding the title and reference page).
