Who Can Do This?

Letter:

For this assignment, you will write a professional letter to your future employer. 

In order to prepare for this assignment, pretend you are applying for a job in your future career. We recommend you:

• Select a career/an occupation; In this case Education (teaching)
• Think about you in that job and the role of diversity in that context, and consider:
  • who the learners will be (or who the people you will be working with will be) and the diversity make-up of that population; and
  • why understanding diversity is important for this job/career.

In your letter, please include the following:

• Intro paragraph where you introduce yourself, explain the purpose of the letter and describe aspects of diversity already at play in the career/occupation and how understanding diversity is essential to the job/career
• 4 course content topics that you learned about in the course, their importance to the job, and how what you learned from the course will apply in your work (each topic should be its own paragraph in your letter)
• Concluding paragraph in which you write about the strengths you will bring to the environment and why you think the future employer would benefit by hiring you

This paper will be presented just like you would write a professional business letter. Your letter, with 6 single-spaced paragraphs, will be close to 2 pages.
