what can reduce Iran versus American tension and possibly stop it?

As tensions heighten between Iran and America allies (Saudi Arabia, Israel) combined with the instability of governments in Iraq, Syria, Egypt and Lybia, what can be done to prevent this region from exploding into an all out war and possibly starting World War III.
