What are the benefits of case management to the substance abuser?

Taking as a premise two fundamental elements such as seeing recovery as a process beyond abstinence and the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach to service coordination that complements this process, we can outline how a person struggling with addiction can benefit from case management in a process that is generally complex, and typically long-term. Regardless of the case management model that is implemented, whether it is focus on delivering social services, coordinating the delivery of services by other providers or both will always be focused on meeting the needs of the client. It is there where the case manager begins the hard work, based fundamentally on four objectives: continuity of care, accessibility, accountability and efficiency, which should be based on the principles of case management.
