Burnes and Wagner believe that dissent is a form of feedback. They develop that theme in their challenge to learning how to turn dissent into valuable information to build a positive school culture. Your text authors mention that conflict is not necessarily dysfunctional and certainly not all bad.

As you reflect on the types of dissent the authors mention and the practical implications for school leaders, think about a time or times when you saw one or more of these at work among the teachers in your building.

• Did the administrator turn it into a platform to foster growth?
• How could you have improved the situation had you been in the "driver's seat?"
