• As you research the company, think about the answers to the following questions:
  • To what extent has the company developed a global mind-set?
  • What steps has it taken to adjust its business strategies to reflect different cultures?
  • How has it approached the tension between its local and global concerns?
  • Have its efforts been successful?
  • What areas are in need of improvement?

Post your response to the following:

• Assess the degree to which your selected company has developed a global mind-set. Your assessment should refer the four primary factors that shape a company’s global mind-set as listed by de Kluyver (2010): “(1) top management’s view of the world; (2) the company’s strategic and administrative heritage; (3) the company’s dominant organizational dimension; and (4) industry-specific forces driving or limiting globalization” (210).
• Evaluate how effectively the company has used the creative tension arising from the often opposing global strategies of emphasizing increased cross-country coordination and centralization versus strategies that favor more autonomy and localization.
• Provide at least one recommendation that the selected company can use to improve its global mind-set.
