Students and their families want to know that their unique personal and cultural backgrounds will be respected and valued in the classroom. Educators must be prepared to effectively communicate this information with students and their families.

For this assignment, create a 250-500 word electronic newsletter that you could email students and their families. Discuss why and how you will teach for social justice in your classroom, while demonstrating cultural competency in your communication. Address the following in your electronic newsletter:

• Consider how your personal individuality, faith and learning, and prior experiences affect your perceptions and expectations in interacting with students and their families. Share relevant stories or prior experiences.
• Reflect on the key terms and concepts learned throughout the duration of the course and how you will apply them to teaching social justice in your classroom.
• Discuss your approach to teaching for social justice in your classroom.

The newsletter should include graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.
