  1. In chapter 5, Roy states "documentaries allow people to listen to others' stories, take in what at times may challenge preconceptions, and allow reflection."

    Has there been a documentary that you have viewed that has challenged your preconceptions and/or broadened your views?
  2. In chapter 6, Hoffman states, "photovoice, a participatory research method that allows participants to critically reflect and discuss the photographs they take in naming their experiences."

    Have you ever participated in a photovoice project? Can you describe the project? What did you learn from the project? If you haven't participated, can you describe a photovoice project that you would be interested in implementing?
  3. As it relates to the concepts discussed by Beverly A. Hoffman in chapter 6, please reflect on a moment and/or time of transformative learning and/or teaching. Has transformative thinking caused any “aha” moments for your or your students?

  4. In chapter 7, Bryan Bowers talks about a meeting of two groups of people, who had a conflicting past with each other. Bowers’ hope was to shed light on the differences, similarities, and history to provide an environment of common ground and learning.
