I searched through the grants from both the American Nurses Association (ANA) as well as National Institute for Health (NIH) and could not find any grants that align with my study. I even looked back through the last 5 years in the ANA to see what was awarded but could not find any previous grants that aligned either. The application process for the grant is very specific. Qualifications in general are delineated and strict. The type of researching institution, budget cap, as well as qualifications for the PI are listed. An abstract, hypothesis, rational and significance, research methods, as well as the scope and timeline are to be submitted as well. Often times grant funding will not be released until IRB approval has been met.

A research grant that would support my research would be from the National League of Nursing and is called: NLN Nursing Education Research Grants Guidelines. According to their website (n.d.), “The NLN Research in Nursing Education Grants Program supports high-quality studies that contribute to the development of the science of nursing education”. The NLN-funded grants promote a wide diversity of research topics and supports investigators who show drive and innovative approaches to help advance the field of nursing education. This directly applies to my research topic of finding ways to encourage clinical nurses/educators to stay in their roles, while encouraging students to complete their education and join the field of nursing. To apply for this grant, I would have to submit a proposal that consists of both a comprehensive review file and blind review file. These would then be submitted online and reviewed blind to ensure there is neutrality in choosing.
