Week 5 Discussion - Tenure Reform
Week 5 Discussion - Tenure Reform
After completing this week's readings, access and watch the video below.
Colorado is leading the way to reform tenure and driven by student progress. It has been said that, "Good teachers do not need tenure."
- Where do you stand on this issue and would you be satisfied with the statement, "鈥ake those kids from where you find them and help them improve?"
- According to Colorado's tenure law, "If you do that, you will have a job. If you don't, you won't have a job." Is this as good as "tenure" for you?
- If the school district where you become principal should adopt teacher evaluation by student progress, what steps might you take to support this as the building leader?
Your initial responses are due by 11:55 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday and should be between 200-250 words. The initial posting should be a statement of your point of view on the question, supported by the required readings.
