Week 5 Discussion- Capstone

Healthy Organizational Culture

A healthy organization culture has a balance of working out physical wellbeing, integrity, communication and organization performance. For instance, fictional organization A, which has common workplace traits, encourages employee development and teamwork. Managers acknowledge employees' work and encourage professional development. They also enable work staff to voice concerns without fear of retribution. These practices help to foster trust, deepen engagement, and promote ethical decision-making (Schwartz, 2013). Having clear priorities in the organization can also help employees understand the role their work plays in larger organization objectives (Lencioni, 2024).

Unhealthy Organizational Culture

Another fictionalized health care organization, Organization B, focuses on productivity and neglects to attend to the concerns of the employee. Work loads are regularly overstated for the staff and resources. This practice can lead to stress, reduce morale and lead to employee turnover. The organization also has poor communication because employees have few opportunities to discuss workplace problems with managers. If employees' need is not addressed, they may feel uninvolved, and issues can persist with no resolution.

Improving Unhealthy Practices

Changes could be made within Organization B by assessing their work load and adjusting staffing accordingly. It would also be beneficial to set realistic goals for performance and give employees the proper resources needed. Meetings could also serve as a platform to bring forth suggestions and any problems that the employees might want to express. The leaders will have to pay attention to these issues with dignity and consistency. All of this may contribute to higher levels of trust and engagement and the removal of unnecessary stress in the workplace. As Goldman (2018) point out, organizational health can lead to better organizational performance showing that employee well-being and organizational results do not have to be competing priorities.
