Individual development plans are a great way to identify and achieve your personal career goals. These plans can also be used by managers to help employees identify and achieve their own personal career goals and growth. Based on your own career goals, job descriptions, weaknesses (opportunities), and strengths.
Do not forget that you are taking the role of their superior here and your feedback should show them you are committed to their growth as an employee.
· What additional training or ideas do you have regarding how they can achieve each of their developmental goals?
· Make sure to provide ideas for each goal individually.
· If you need to, do some research to give them additional ideas to consider.
· How else can they use their strengths listed to achieve their goals?
· Based on their justification for their goals, is there any other commentary or idea you have for them as their superior?
For your initial post, address the following:
· Define your own professional goals.
· Share your strengths, skills, and interests.
· Describe your career objectives.
· Identify how you will measure your objectives.
Guided Response: Your initial response should be a minimum of 200 words. Choose two peers to respond to from the perspective of a management superior. If this peer was your employee, how would you help them advance their career based on their completed IDP? Review their completed IDP and their explanation before responding. Respond to the following questions and please remember to be professional with your feedback.

Current Development Goals
I am currently pursuing an MBA and will graduate by December 2025. This goal will improve my business skills, which will translate into many future possibilities. Additionally, exposure to other areas of the organization will improve my network of associates. I am a contributor to a pilot project in our region. If it goes nationwide, this pilot project will provide exposure to the training development plans I’ve developed for the project. Finally, to gain additional experience, I want to work with the leadership development team as a co-facilitator for our presentation skills class.
Strengths, Skills, and Interests
Strengths include coaching, facilitation, presentation, and administrative skills. I am committed to the training and development of our employees and actively seek better ways for knowledge transfer when facilitating training classes.
My interests include the intricacies of leadership and how leaders effectively lead people. I am constantly reading material on different leadership approaches and their effectiveness in the workplace. I am a facilitator, which is what I am most interested in improving.
Career Objectives
· Improve my facilitation skills – I will track this through end-of-course surveys to determine if my facilitation skills are improving.
· Project lead – I will track this by successfully leading a project through completion.
· Career advancement – I will track my career advancement as it progresses. The focus here will be on my own personal dedication to completing my personal brand and marketing efforts to achieve new roles.
