Week 4 Discussion 1 - Considering FERPA
Week 4 Discussion 1 - Considering FERPA
After completing this week's readings, consider the following scenario:
You have learned that during lunch time in the faculty work room yesterday, one of the teachers brought up the name of a student and began to complain about his behavior as well as all the problems he is causing in her classroom. One of the other teachers joined the conversation, since she had also had that student in class. Her remarks included the fact that his father drank and beat the student's mother. In your opinion, is this a violation of FERPA? Why or why not? Support your opinion with facts from FERPA.
Your initial responses are due by 11:55 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday and should be between 200-250 words. The initial posting should be a statement of your point of view on the question, supported by the required readings.
