Week 3 Discussion 2 - Rethinking Teacher Supervision and Evaluation
Week 3 Discussion 2 - Rethinking Teacher Supervision and Evaluation
After completing the readings for this week, access the link below and read the article.
You will note that this article is not as "up-to-date" as we usually utilize in our program. This is intentional, as this article echoes certain key themes that remain relevant for today's schools. The author presents some ideas for you to consider and react to:.
- Kim talks about the reasons that supervision and evaluation often "miss the mark." Do you agree or disagree?
- Have you had experience as a teacher with her remarks in this section?
- She also lists twelve steps to linking supervision to high achievement. Look at her Conventional Model versus her Proposed Model. What are your thoughts about some of her recommendations here? If this is happening where you teach, tell us about it.
- As an administrator, would you use any of Kim Marshall's ideas?
Your initial response is due by 11:55 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday and should be between 200-250 words. The initial posting should be a statement of your point of view on the question, supported by the required readings.
