"The Role of Authentic Leadership and Cultural Intelligence in Cross-Cultural Contexts: An Objective Perspective” by Gretchen Vogelgesang, Rachel Clapp-Smith, and Noel Palmer

This research focuses on the fact that leaders remain true to their own standards when operating in different host-countries.  In a world where schools are faced with meeting the needs of diverse cultures, consider the fact that the school executive may have internal standards for behavior that might contrast to those he or she finds in a cross-cultural context.  The article mentions leaders who might go from a “context where all levels of the organization are expected to act morally and are ostracized if they are not, to a culture where this may not be the case.”  If you find yourself in this position once you begin your career, how will you remain true to yourself and yet understand the cultural behavior of the staff member?
