Week 3 - Discussion 1

Role of the Judiciary 

Using the Oyez website (http://www.oyez.org (Links to an external site.)), review contemporary cases decided upon by the U.S. Supreme Court. Select one case and discuss how the Court’s decision influenced criminal justice policy.

Initial Post: In your discussion post:

• Identify your selected constitutional issue.
• Evaluate the effect of the key arguments on the police, judicial, or corrections systems and the final Supreme Court ruling.
• Describe how the Supreme Court ruling affected criminal justice policy.
• Analyze how this ruling affects social justice within America.

Support your position with scholarly references. Support your claims with examples from the required materials and/or other scholarly sources, and properly cite your references with both in-text and APA citations at the end of your post. Your initial post is due by Day 3 (Thursday) and should be at least 400 words in length.

Guided Response: Evaluate and respond to two of your peers’ posts, and respond to at least one Instructor Response in the discussion. In your evaluation of your peers’ posts, determine if there were criminal justice policy issues not addressed by the Supreme Court. Respond to at least two peers by Day 7.
