Curriculum Design Project: Part 2 -
Program Learning Outcomes & Degree Completion Plan Assignment Instructions
Video instructions that accompany these written instructions are available under the Module 3 Watch Items. Be sure to include the revised edition of Part 1 in your submission.
Overview
Any school website or catalog, should include both the learning outcomes and a degree completion plan for a given degree. A learning outcome is a statement about the type of performance that can be expected of students once they have completed the degree. Degree completion plans typically include the courses required for any degree program along with any other important information (see the provided example at the end.)
Instructions
For this portion of your Curriculum Design Project, you need to design the following:
1. Program Learning Outcomes
A. Based on the course requirements in the program you are designing, construct 3-5 Program Learning Outcomes using the example below as a guide.
The following portions of your required reading should be helpful in conceptualizing your Program Learning Outcomes.
i. Yount (chapter 12)
ii. Diamond (part 2)
B. The following is an example taken from the degree used in the Benchmark Analysis. Use your reading as a guide for what makes a quality learning outcome and use the following as a format when designing your Program Learning Outcomes. This is the format that your program learning outcomes should follow.
The student will be able to:
1. Categorize the essential foundations of ministry.
2. Organize an effective administrative structure for ministry.
3. Develop a curricular program, including an implementation plan, for ministry in a local congregation.
4. Design a plan for equipping others to participate in and contribute to ministry programs.
2. Degree Completion Plan
A. Using the example from the Curriculum Design Project: Part 1 - Benchmark Analysis (from Module 1: Week 1). Also, the actual Degree Completion Plan for the Master of Arts in Christian Ministries is included below.
B. This Degree Completion Plan must include the following:
1. The name of the degree program you are designing
2. The full list of courses required in the program (see the example) This should be based on the program you chose to develop in part 1.
3. Graduation requirements (such as the minimum GPA, etc)
C. Follow this example when designing your own Degree Completion Plan. Feel free to use a fictitious school name.
