week 2 edu526 Disucssion question
"Cultural Relevance" Please respond to the following:
Behavioral science researcher Lippitt in 1949 described laboratory training as an opportunity to “get into the shoes of others”. It is a time where one can reflect on and assess the culture, experiences, personal outlook, and biases of others. Every person has differences which make them an individual unlike anyone else in the world. The text discusses various manifestations of social oppression and “isms” that affect us in some way.
· Specify a time when you had the opportunity to express your own beliefs, culture, attitude, or behavior to others. Summarize what you discussed and your own feelings while discussing your beliefs. Identify the type of feedback you received from the others (i.e., positive, negative, mixed, etc.).
· If you have not had this type of opportunity, specify a time when you were exposed to another person’s beliefs, culture, or behavior that was much different from your own. Describe what you experienced and how you felt in that very different environment.
